The hypnotic melodies of Garifuna drumming are resounding beats of the south. Visit Punta Gorda Town and join in the cultural celebrations of the annual “2016 Battle of the Drums and Food Fete”!
November is the national month of celebration for the Garifuna and an exciting time for visitors to Belize!
Traveling to Belize? This event is an electrifying showcase of the traditional drumming and dancing that is a staple of the Garinagu!
FOOD FETE (Nov. 11. 2016): Love exotic flavors? Indulge in delectable Garifuna dishes, coupled with live cultural performances throughout the night! Enjoy the tasty foods, such as: Cassava Bread, Cassava Pudding, Hudut, Tapou and more! And witness the “Taste of Garifuna” cooking competition. Location: (at the Toledo Community College Compound) 8:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.
BATTLE of the DRUMS (Nov. 12. 2016): Be prepared for a memorable night in Punta Gorda, Town as these suspense-filled Garifuna competitions captivate all… Discover a few of the traditional dancing and drumming, such as: Punta, Hungu, Paranda, Chumba and Wanaragua! Event starts at 7:30 p.m., at the Toledo Community College Compound.
