2015 La Ruta Maya – Belize River Challenge

The intrigue of “La Ruta Maya-Belize River Challenge 2015” is one that has to be experienced by all!  Get ready to witness the over 75 teams canoeing through the Belize River for the coveted title on March 6th – 9th, 2015!

This is a true spectator’s sport…Come out and enjoy the epic sportsmanship of these annual (local and international) canoe teams vying for the win!

“La Ruta 2015”- Schedule

(This canoe race starts in the West and finishes in the Northeast)

  • March 6th: The START of the race happens under the Hawksworth Bridge in San Ignacio, Cayo District at 7:00 a.m., race ends at Banana Bank at 12:30 p.m.
  • March 7th: Starting from Banana Bank at 6:30 a.m., and approximate arrival in Double Head Cabbage is set for 1:30 p.m.
  • March 8th: Starting from Double Head Cabbage at 7:30 a.m., arriving in Burrell Boom approximately 11:30 a.m.
  • March 9th: Starting from Burrel Boom at 9:00 a.m., arriving in Belize City at the Belcan Bridge at approximately 11:30 a.m. for the Finish Line festivities. Entertainment includes music, food, drinks, greasy pole competitions and live performances by local artists!

With tons of excitement throughout the race, each day promises something new! Join the cheering onlookers at each start location for tasty local foods, drinks and friendly faces!
